Rate: 8.5/10 (first rate: 6.5/10)
At my first reading, I had hard time to understand the whole story. But when I read 3 times and listened to teacher's interpretation, I realized that it was a great story. As I am a christian, I could understand the story well.
The story's main theme is the Peter's story which is he betrayed Jesus. He tell this story to the widow, Vasilisa. Then suddenly, Vasilisa started to cry. After Ivan made her to cry, he started to think the world is warm (it was cold and gloomy in first.) and relieved. In this, we can think Ivan is still young and not mature. Vasilisa's daughter hate Ivan. I think Vasilisa might cheated his husband he had ran away. Everybody know this, and Ivan wanted to advise to her and it's why she hate her. I do understand whether he wanted to say something to Vasilisa, but sometimes, silence might be the best advise and giving chance to repentance. (160 words)
Given Number: 10. Resurrection
The story 'The student' has the 10th step of hero's journey: Resurrection. At the last part of the story, Ivan goes to the hill and look at his village and thinks that it's sweet and good to live. Which is contrary to the beginning of the story.
Good work, but you don't need to include a summary etc. or overview. As this class starts to move more quickly you can spend less time on each post and just share your thoughts directly. Good work.
